Playtimes Playgroup is an established playgroup, which moved to these
premises in 2002. It has a new purpose built building with a large playroom and
adjacent outdoor play area. It is located in the village of Spaldwick. In its
recent inspection,
Ofsted
considered that the quality and standards of the care were
satisfactory, and that the quality and standards of the nursery education were
satisfactory.

Hinchingbrooke Senior School

Hinchingbrooke School, which is located on the outskirts of Huntingdon, is a
Local Authority School and has about 1890 pupils aged 11-18 and 96 teaching
staff. The first known building on the site was a Norman church dated to about
the year 1100. The school has had specialist sports status since 2005 and has
achieved the Sports Mark and Investors in People standard. According to
Ofsted, the school provides a satisfactory and improving education
for its students.

Kimbolton Senior School (independent)

According to the
Independent Schools Inspectorate, Kimbolton is a successful school
with many strengths. The quality of teaching and learning is good and attainment
and progress are good. Pupils are very happy, loyal to the school, support each
other, have a sense of belonging and feel valued in themselves and as members of
the community. Pupils receive highly effective pastoral and academic support
from a dedicated staff and benefit from a personal development programme which
contributes to their qualities as young adults.

Spaldwick School is situated in Royston Avenue and has about 168 pupils,
aged four to 11, in discreet year group classes.

The very latest
Ofsted
School report in November 2009 rated Spaldwick School as "outstanding", with
the following comments:
"Spaldwick is a warm, happy, busy school that provides an
outstanding education for its pupils and makes an excellent contribution to
its community".
"As almost all parents and pupils acknowledged, the
quality of teaching is outstanding.....Teachers successfully keep pupils on
task and interested through varying activities and through ensuring that
tasks set match the different abilities."
"Pupils feel valued and appreciate the many opportunities
made available to them to take on responsibilities. The school, working
closely with parents, has high expectations of behaviour and pupils respond
very well."
"Behaviour seen in lessons and around the school was
never less than outstanding. Pupils are calm. courteous, pleasant and
communicative. They take particular pride in their school. There are no
recorded incidents of racial bullying or any other form of bullying."

Kimbolton Preparatory School (independent)
Kimbolton Preparatory School is an Independent Day School for boys and girls
aged four to 11 years. To the west of Kimbolton village the Preparatory School
is located within its own attractive grounds linked to the Senior School by
means of a pathway. According to the
Independent Schools Inspectorate, pupils’ results in national tests
at the age of 11 are far above the national average for all maintained primary
schools in English and mathematics and well above that average in science.
