Spaldwick Gardening Club Produce Sale this Saturday

The new Spaldwick Gardening Club continues to be very active. Joyce and Grahame Leach hosted two meetings of the club in September. The first was its general meeting where members who had grown zuchetta from seed donated by Tina produced some very good results in such variable summer weather. The plant grows like a vine and creeps through anything that will support it and produces a yellow cucumber-sized courgette type fruit that has proved to be delicious when roasted.

Other subjects discussed were taking hardwood cuttings, splitting and dividing perennials and when is the best time to lift and divide rhubarb.

The second meeting was to finalise arrangements for the Coffee Morning/Plant Sale/Raffle and Produce Sale on Saturday 6th October, from 10am until 1pm at Spaldwick Church. This is to raise funds for the church roof and other improvements. If any non-members have any plants, home-made items or raffle prizes that they could donate, please pass them to Roger Haines at 1 Ivy Way or bring to the church on the day.
