This Christmas, a very strange thing happened in Spaldwick.
Eight strange figures, dressed head-to-toe in black lycra and Santa hats, took part in a race like no other. As the starter’s horn blew, they embarked on a short race around the village, supported by several members of friends and family.
The finish line was at the bar of The George. There was much surprise and laughter as these strange creatures silently awaited their drinks.
Organiser Vicky Wakefield said, “This is something we plan to do each year and we raised over £100 for SANDS.” SANDS is a charity that supports those affected by the death of a baby and promotes research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.
“It was great fun and I want to thank everyone who took part,” Vicky said. “We already have had several people volunteer to take part next year,” she added.
