Gardening News For January 2014

Roger HainesThe Spaldwick Gardening Club had a varied and enjoyable December with two very different activities.

Firstly, we had the club’s annual Christmas get-together, this year at Maggie Lincoln’s home. We thank Maggie for providing the venue and thanks to everyone who brought delicious goodies to eat.

Our Secret Santa draw, for which everyone brought a suitable present, proved very popular.

The intellectual highlight of our evening was an excellent quiz prepared and presented by John Lock. Some easy questions, some hard and a very tricky famous faces round had us scratching our heads. Thank you John for organising such an enjoyable quiz.

The second activity was our Christmas arrangement workshop in Spaldwick Church, attended by members who all produced a festive offering for home or to decorate the Church. Thanks to Lindy for bringing the mulled wine. It was most appreciated.

The Gardening Club looks forward to 2014 when we will be arranging, amongst other things, the Open Gardens Day on Sunday 22nd June 2014 and will be confirming arrangements for this event at our January meeting.

The January meeting will be on Wednesday 8th January at 1 Ivy Way, Spaldwick, commencing at 7.30pm. Existing and new members are always welcome.
