Photos of Santa visiting Spaldwick
The streets of Spaldwick were crowded, and we have never had so many people come and watch Santa. Santa has never distributed so many presents, with a total of 81 presents given to young people in the village – more than double the number distributed in 2013. It was delightful to see so many excited faces.
Father Christmas also distributed nearly 30 boxes of chocolates to older residents in the village. The photo, below, shows Anita Hughes being greeted by Santa’s elves at her door.
Crowds gathered around the refreshment stalls set up by the Spaldwick Playgroup, as villagers enjoyed a warm glass of mulled wine or steaming hot chocolate as they awaited Santa in his sleigh. Back at The George, a large group of children had gathered to see Santa arrive with a large sack of presents, which he distributed inside.
Staff at The George provided a very warm welcome to everyone, with mince pies and mulled wine. Many villagers also took the opportunity to have a special meal. Thanks to Steve and his staff.
Then, it was time for carol singing, beautifully accompanied by Angie Collins (keyboard), Mark Sturdy (guitar) and Mark Hunter (guitar!). Young and old joined in.
Lucy Frain, Chair of Spaldwick Social Group, said, “Thank you to everyone who helped to make the Christmas spirit come to our village. It really is a truly magical event for our community and, although my feet were aching last night, I loved every minute of it!”
Thanks to everyone who made this year’s event such a success, including all the elves. Thank you to Susie and Tony for providing Santa’s transport. Finally, a special thank you goes to Santa!
